WHAT’S NEW?


ABOUT THE PTO

The PTO works to support programs and activities that enrich students’ educational experiences and to help foster communication between school and home. We achieve our objectives by supporting and organizing a variety of school programs and communication vehicles. Thriving on parent involvement, we offer diverse opportunities to contribute time and talent, and we can find a way to match your interest and schedule with a way to contribute.

MEETINGS

All parents and faculty are invited to attend PTO meetings. Meetings provide a way to contribute ideas, articulate concerns, have a voice in decisions and meet other members of the Torey J community. You do not have to be an active volunteer to attend meetings (nor do you have to attend meetings to be an active volunteer).

Meetings are typically held on Monday every other month. To accommodate the diverse scheduling needs of parents, some meetings are held in the evening and others are held in the morning. Meetings are held at the school.

COMMUNICATIONS

ALL PTO COMMUNICATIONS ARE NOW ONLINE!

  • TJS Parent Handbook - delivered to new Torey J families in August. If you would like a hard copy, please call the office at 973-593-3182. Available on the PTO link on the TJS website, as well as right here.
  • Family Directory - delivered to all Torey J families in early October. (CANNOT ACCESS ONLINE)
  • Jaguar Tails - access the school newsletter by clicking the PTO link on the TJS website.

FUNDRAISERS

Through the fundraising efforts, the TJS PTO sponsors activities that benefit all grade levels. Some of the activities that we help to support include cultural arts assemblies, educational enrichment programs by grade, art appreciation programs, drama club and knitting club. The PTO also purchases education equipment for classrooms, the library, gym, music, art and technology.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

There are a great many ways to volunteer at TJS. Whether you are a working parent or not you can be involved:

  • Once a week: Library, Lunchroom & Playground Duty
  • Twice a month: Lunch & Playground Duty
  • Once a month: Playground Duty
  • Two or Three Times a Year: Awesome Art
  • One Time Events: Parent Handbook, School Directory, School Pictures, Gift Wrap, Book Fair, Holiday Workshop, Family Fun Night, NJ Devils Game, Invention Convention, Jamboree, Raffle, Bowling Night Adult Social, Conference Lunches, DEAR, Field Days
  • Ongoing: Beautification, Hospitality, Room Parents, Grocery Cards, Cultural Arts, Educational Enrichment, Poetry Enrichment, Knitting Club, Art Display, Community Service, Corporate Funding, Drama Club, New Parent, School Spirit
