Please be sure to review the attachment regarding the the Renaissance STAR program from our superintendent, Mr. Mark Schwarz.  The district will be piloting this very useful educational tool to better help us serve students at all levels in grades 1-8.
    Instructional Corner:  Parent/Teacher Conferences:
Parent/teacher conferences are an important part of the educational process.  YOU know your children better than anyone else, and your input is vital in ensuring that your child meets with success.  Last year, the district transitioned to trimesters instead of quarters to issue report cards.  This format allows for a 12 week reporting period rather than a 9 week reporting period.  Student development is unique to the child, and the longer reporting periods allow the teachers to collect more meaningful evidence of student learning.  The first trimester ends on December 6thand report cards will be issued on December 14th.  During the conference, you can expect your child's teacher to comment on your child's strengths, areas of improvement, social/emotional development, and overall academic progress towards goals.  Each child develops differently.  While the goal may be to get each child from Point A to Point B, so to speak, the path that each child takes is different.  Sharing your child's habits at home and working as a collaborative team with the teacher is the best way to ensure continued success.  Feel free to jot down questions for your child's teacher to keep the conversation focused.  Please be mindful of the 15 minute allotments for conferences.  You are welcome to reach out to the teachers at any time regarding your child's progress, not just during scheduled conference days.  We look forward to continuing to strengthen the home-school connection.
