January 26, 2018I have a very brief update this week. The NJ Department of Education recently released their annual "School Performance Reports," which gives a synopsis of the overall progress of our schools. I'm pleased to let you know that TJS finished with favorable results, and I encourage you to review the reports here.We participated in the "Great Kindness Challenge" this past week, and I was really impressed with the overall response from the students! Thank you to Ms. Tavaglione for organizing and all the classroom teachers for supporting. We are very busy preparing for the upcoming mural project in the front lobby of our school! I am so grateful for joint funding from the TJS PTO and MEF to allow Caren Frost Olmsted to perform a residency at our school and create a mural to celebrate the history and identity of Torey J. Sabatini Elementary School. TJS was built in 1969 and opened its doors to its first set of students in early 1970. We are nearing our 50th anniversary and it's time to start recognizing and celebrating all the accomplishments of the past five decades!Additionally, our second annual "Souper Bowl" is off to a strong start! Thank you for your generosity and efforts to support the Interfaith Food Pantry.February is right around the corner! I will have more updated calendar information . Attached, you'll find a monthly message from Pomptonian, our food service provider, the January school calendar, and information regarding the Souper Bowl.PTO Update:Plans for our TJS mural project are underway!
