    Students will be able to practice specific reading strategies in the areas of phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary through the following avenues:

    Mini-lessons - whole class reading strategy lessons.
    Guided Reading - small group reading instruction.
    One-on-One Conferencing
    Shared Reading
    Read Alouds
    Center work

     

    WRITER'S WORKSHOP

     Students will be able to practice specific writing strategies through the mini-lesson format.  Share writing, interactive writing, and small groups, and one-on-one conferencing with the teacher to explore the following writing avenues:

    Writing opinion pieces
    Writing informative/explanatory texts
    Narrative writing
    Peer review
    Using digital tools for writing
    Completing writing research projects (i.e. "how-to" books)
    Researching and gather sources

     

    MATHEMATICS

    Students will be able to practice specific math strategies through the mini-lesson format to achieve goals in the areas of: 

    Whole Numbers
    Ordinal numbers
    Numbers to 20
    Numbers and place value to 100


    Operations on Whole Numbers:
    Add and subtract 2-digit numbers within 20
    Add and subtract 2-digit numbers within 100

    Fractions:
    Halves and quarters


    Mental Math:
    Add and subtract 1-digit numbers

    Add and subtract 2-digit numbers and 1's and 10's
    Add and subtract 2-digit numbers, no regrouping

    Word Problems:
    Making adding and subtracting stories

    One-step word problems

    Time:
    Time to the half hour

    Length, Measurement, and Capacity:
    Measurement in non-standard units

    Geometry:
    Common 2-dimensional shapes

    Completing patterns
