It's going to be a busy weekend in Madison!  May Day is tomorrow and the MEF 5k is Sunday.  More information is included below:
    May Day is almost here!
Please join our efforts at Torey J THIS Saturday, May 5, and as always there will be beautification efforts all over town.
Our efforts at Torey J. will be from approximately 8:30-11:00 (8:00 for anyone who wishes to help set up), and there will be an after-party (pizza, music, etc.) at 11:00 at the Hartley Dodge building in town (across from train station). The work will be be general outdoor cleanup/weeding/mulching/trimming.
Please reply to me at MayDay.ToreyJ@gmail.com with your name, the number of volunteers in your family, troop, etc., and how many of each shirt size you will need (Available sizes: Youth medium, Youth Large, Adult M, L, XL, XXL).
The town and I will provide some supplies, but they are limited, so PLEASE bring any of the following you can (wheelbarrows, pitchforks, rakes, gloves, clippers/shears). And as with anything you bring/send to school - it's best you put your name on it.
We will provide water and healthy snacks.
Thanks so much, and looking forward to seeing you all!

    Instructional Corner:
Next week is Teacher Appreciation week, and I could not be more appreciative of the hard work all the teachers and support staff members do at Torey J. The demands on an elementary teacher are great.  They plan for multiple subject areas and prepare numerous lessons to be delivered each day, manage approximately 20 students, give or take a few, differentiate for varying levels of learners, work collaboratively with parents, provide emotional support, tie shoes, wipe noses, dry tears, all while managing the demands of additional professional responsibilities and pursuance of professional development.  And that's not even all of it!  Elementary teachers are the ultimate multi-taskers that work hard and dedicate themselves to enriching the lives of your children.  Be sure to thank a teacher!
