June 8, 2018So many great things happened this week! On Tuesday evening, the district's art show was held on St. Elizabeth's campus. It was an extraordinary display of the many talented Madison students and our strong arts programs. That same evening, at the Board of Education meeting, we honored Mrs. Allison Altieri as our Educator of the Year and the TJS Learning Garden project was formally approved. Today, our fifth graders presented their "More than Madison" capstone projects and they were truly impressive.Maureen Philips and her team work fast! We are fortunate to be leveraging the talents of a TJS parent, Jared Kest. His landscape architecture firm, J. Kest and Company, began preliminary preparations today. I'll be sure to keep you posted on the progress of the garden after school is out for summer recess. The garden will offer many great learning opportunities for the students and bring us all together as a school community. And, it's going to be beautiful!The last week of school is upon us. This is always a special week for our fifth graders who will walk the halls of TJS as students for the final time. The 5th Grade Recognition Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 13th at 9:30 A.M. Fifth grade parents and family members are invited to attend. Younger siblings will be permitted to attend the ceremony, if desired. Please come to the main office and we will call the classroom of your younger child to come and meet you.On Friday, June 15th, we will honor our fifth graders one final time with a PTO sponsored breakfast at in the Jaguar Jungle. Please note, this requires an early drop off and is for STUDENTS ONLY to give them a chance to sign yearbooks. At the end of the school day ( ), we will have our 5th Grade Clap Out. The entire student body of TJS will watch and applaud our fifth graders as they prepare to leave the building. Parents, we ask that you stand on playground area near the doors of the Jaguar Jungle (where we exit for recess) and each student will be announced one final time before walking up the path. The PTO will provide confetti. You may want to arrive around to make sure you don't miss it.
