The first week was a huge success, despite the heat! Kudos to the entire staff and student body for making the best of the circumstances. We have all enjoyed having the students back in the building. Perhaps one of my favorite moments of the week was walking into a classroom and a teacher said to me, "I love my class, I'm loving life!" Your children bring us an enormous amount of joy and professional satisfaction. We are honored to teach and grow with them.
Not surprisingly, this first update is filled with a lot of operational information and attachments. As we move along, we'll be sure to update you with all the great instructional and guidance initiatives taking place, as well. The beginning of the school year is a great time to remind you of the health guidelines and best practices to follow when your child is ill. I kindly ask you review the attached guidelines and abide by them, in an effort to reduce the spread of illness, as best as possible.
The TJS PTO calendar is attached for your reference. It contains dates of school events, spirit days, and other reminders. Every Friday is TJS/Madison Spirit Wear day. There's an order form attached with some great new offerings, so check it out! Last year, our Spirit Committee organized a successful school-wide reading challenge, Souper Bowl, Jaguar Buddies reading program, and much more. They're quite busy making plans for this year, as well. The district calendar can be found here.
