• Thank you for joining us for conferences this week and a special shout out to the hard working PTO volunteers who organized an amazing Book Fair!  And the Spirit Day results are in....Pajama Day won and will be Monday, November 25th.  The Book Fair will be open tomorrow morning for the family event, so there is still time left to pick up some of your children's favorite titles.   The rain should hold out for the Turkey Trot, I hope to see you there!

Mr. Paradiso, our new media specialist, has been working hard to get the media center in order post construction.  He is in need of volunteers who can help alphabetize and organize library books to prepare for the grand opening!  If any parents are available to volunteer on Mondays or Tuesdays in December at any time during the school day, please contact Mr. Paradiso at Paradisoc@madisonnjps.org to set up a time. Experience in a library is not necessary.

Next week is a short week due to the Thanksgiving break.  Wednesday will be a single session day and school will be dismissed at 12:45 P.M.  Pizza will be served if pre-ordered through the PTO.

    Guidance Update:

As we move into the whirlwind holiday season, our students are busy demonstrating gratitude.  During this week’s Jaguar Buddies lesson, our kindergarteners, second, third and fourth graders worked together to create gratitude chains.  They will be hung around the school by our 5th Grade Peer Leaders next week. During classroom guidance lessons, students in grades K-2 were taught how to better express their feelings.  We practiced using emotion words such as, frustrated, nervous and joyful. Also, students were taught how we use our bodies to communicate our emotions and that this is called, “body language.”  Feel free to ask your littles to “act out” some body language at home for you to see! Our third, fourth and fifth grade Jaguars were busy learning how to communicate sentiments of empathy and sympathy.  They learned the difference between the two terms and how the words they choose to express themselves matter. Our winter safety patrol is in full swing! We have twenty two student leaders from grades three, four and five working a variety of jobs during recess, lunch and at kindergarten dismissal.  It is an awesome sight!! Best, Judy Bletcher
