    I.  Course Description:
Geometry is a full year tenth grade course designed to meet all of the State of New Jersey’s Core Curriculum Content Standards:

Enriched Geometry is a full year course designed for the average student who is planning on going to college.  Successful completion of Algebra I is a prerequisite.  This course introduces students to deductive reasoning.  This is accomplished through the development of a mathematical system where students learn how to construct proofs.  Students are encouraged to draw and to visualize two and three dimensional figures and to relate what they learn to the world in which they live.  Euclidean geometry as well as coordinate and transformational  geometry are introduced and used in the solution of problems.

    II. Required Text & Materials:

    • Larson/Boswell.  Geometry.  USA:  Big Ideas Learning, 2015.
    • Notebook (3-Ring binder preferred)
    • Loose leaf paper
    • Calculator - TI 84 plus or scientific calculator
    • A Pencil

     III. Grading Policy

Grades will be based on a point system with homework worth 3 points and account for approximately 10-15% of your grade, quizzes worth 10-40 points, and tests worth 100 points.

IV. Late work & Make-up Policy

Late work will only be accepted for full credit for an excused absence or excused tardy.  Please provide the work the day you return to class.  If you miss class, you are responsible for getting the assignments from a classmate.  If you are absent on the day of a test/quiz, please be prepared to make up the quiz upon your return during your study hall or during class time.  If you know of a planned absence in advance, please see me for the missing assignment(s) for that time period. For extended absences, you will be given 2 days for every day you are absent to make up missed work.

Missed assignments and incomplete assignments can be turned in for partial credit. All missed and incomplete assignments must be turned in prior to the current chapter assessment. *For example: If you missed two assignments during chapter 1, they must be turned in prior to taking the chapter 1 test. Failure to do so will result in a zero for those assignments with no possibility of make up.

    V. Class Participation

    • Homework is assigned and checked daily.
    • Unit quizzes and tests are announced a few days before taking place. A unit test will take place at the conclusion of a chapter and quizzes every 2-3 sections covered.

    VI. Classroom Expectations

All students are expected to turn in assignments on time as well as study for quizzes and tests.

All students are expected to follow directions and be prepared for class before it starts.

All students are expected to be respectful of the teacher, other classmates, and the school and property of the school.
