I. Course Description:
Honors Geometry is a course designed for students with above-average ability in mathematics. The course is an in-depth study of geometry, primarily approached from a Euclidean point of view. An axiomatic system is developed as the course progresses. In addition, coordinate geometry, some non-Euclidean geometry, solid geometry, and transformational geometry are explored. In the course, the primary emphasis is on inductive and deductive reasoning and logical problem-solving techniques. In conjunction with the two preliminary years of algebra, this course provides the student with a strong foundation for further mathematics study, particularly in Honors Precalculus.
