• Mathematics
    In third grade, students will be provided with a strong content knowledge base of many mathematical concepts.  In addition, they will develop the skills of problem-solving, communication in mathematics, making mathematical connections, and reasoning.  They will use various tools and technology, such as manipulatives, calculators, and websites, throughout the year.

    Students will be evaluated regularly through teacher observation, end of chapter tests, anecdotal records, and informal classroom assessments & classwork.


    We will complete units on the following topics:
    Numbers to 10,000
    Addition and Subtraction up to 10,000
    Multiplication and Division
    Using Bar Models: Multiplication and Division
    Area and Perimeter
    Metric Length, Mass, and Volume
    Time and Temperature
    Bar Graphs and Line Plots
    Real-World Problems: Measurement
    Two-Dimensional Shapes
