Signora DeFresco

Buongiorno a tutti!  This is my seventh year teaching at MJS, and it is wonderful being a part of the famiglia in Madison! :)

Prior to teaching in Madison, I taught at Cedar Grove High School, and I was a long-term substitute Italian teacher at Ridge High School.   I majored in Italian Language and Literature at the University of Maryland, and was fortunate to have the opportunity to complete a year-long teaching apprenticeship after graduation at Liceo Scientifico A. Banfi - an Italian Scientific High School- in Vimercate, Italy.  I was also very fortunate to study abroad for a semester during my time at University of Maryland in Siena, Italy.  In summer 2018, I graduated from the Bilingual and Bicultural Education Master's Program through Rutgers University.  Through my coursework, I have also earned certification to teach English as a Second Language.  Even though I have finished my masters, I am still looking to learn more and am currently styding Educational Technology through Rutgers.  These experiences have shaped my knowledge of Italian and of teaching, and thanks to these experiences, I bring all of my passion for learning and teaching Italian to my students at MJS!

Some other "fun facts" about Signora DeFresco - I recently got married, April 2018!  I am a long-time vegetarian and a believer in sustainable living and renewable energy!  I love travelling and learning about new places.  I also love photography - the pictures in the gallery on this page are some that I took in Italy of my favorite places and things!
