• CAS is proactive in safeguarding our students, staff and families against illness.  The school ensures that soap dispensers are full and high contact areas such as desks and door handles are cleaned and disinfected daily. Signs are posted though out the school reminding student to wash their hands and cover their coughs and sneezes. Tissues are supplied to all classrooms.  Parents are requested to keep their child home if sick and students must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school, without the use of fever reducing medication.

There are some common steps students and their families can take to minimize the risk of exposure to EV-D68 both in school and in the home.  These include:

    • covering one’s mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing
    • avoiding the sharing of cups or other eating utensils with people who are sick
    • cleaning and disinfecting surfaces that are regularly touched by individuals (doorknobs, keyboards, desk and table surfaces, etc.)
    • avoiding close contact with sick people
    • remaining at home and seeking medical attention if you are sick or experiencing symptoms
    • avoiding the touching of one’s eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
    • washing one’s hands frequently for 15-20 seconds with a disinfectant soap and warm water
