Madison Public Schools offers a comprehensive K-12 mathematics curriculum aligned with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Mathematics.

Students must take a minimum of 15 credits (3 years) of mathematics at Madison High School.  As a graduation requirement set forth by the New Jersey Department of Education, effective with the Class of 2014, all students must complete and pass math courses with content in Algebra and Geometry.

The New Jersey Department of Education requires students to participate in the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) each year.  The PARCC will be administered to all students in Grades 3-8, as well as for those students enrolled in Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2.  As a graduation requirement set forth by the New Jersey Department of Education, effective with the Class of 2021, all students must take and pass the Algebra 1 PARCC assessment.  If a student does not pass the Algebra 1 PARCC assessment, they must sit for all other PARCC assessments for which they are eligible and participate in the portfolio appeals process senior year.
