• Dear MJS Families,

    This week, we had an opportunity to recognize our February Leaders of the Month. Congratulations to our students for their hard work and dedication inside and outside the classroom. This month’s recipients can be found here.

    Next week, our sixth grade students will be visiting the Mayo Performing Arts Center to see a musical entitled Ellis Island: Gateway to a Dream. Sixth grade students will also participate in an array of activities including an Escape Room focusing on information students learned throughout the day. Thank you to the Sixth Grade Teams and Mrs. Rosica for coordinating!

    The Rutgers Science Explorer Bus will also be visiting MJS next week. Seventh Grade students will participate in DNA detective activities. Thank you to Mrs. Zabel for coordinating the bus. Thank you to the Madison Education Foundation for supporting both grade level activities. 

    On our website, parents can find information on the Staff-Student Basketball Game which will take place Friday, March 20 at 7:00 PM. Similar to the Spike for Cure event, this event is open to MJS students only. Parents are more than welcome to attend and siblings can attend as long as they are accompanied by a parent. The permission slip form for the event can be found here. The MJS musical, Aladdin, Jr. will be presented on March 27-29. Ticket information can be found here.

    MJS Field Day 2020 is coming and we are very excited. This was an idea that was brought forward by MJS students and we are currently in the planning stages of kicking off our field day scheduled for May 29. As discussed in our last PTO meeting, we will hold a t-shirt fundraiser for the event in April (the purchase of a t-shirt is not required). More details will be coming; in the meantime, here is a sneak peek at our field day t-shirts.

    The May Day T-Shirt Art Contest has been extended to Grades 6-8. Any student interested in participating in the contest can find information here. The annual Taste of Madison event will be held on March 23. Tickets can be purchased through our PTO. Please consider purchasing your tickets from the PTO as every ticket sold = $25 to the MJS PTO. Information on Taste of Madison tickets can be found here.
