Dear MJS Families:
Thank you to all the parents who helped us out during the Sixth Grade Social. It was a great night and the students had a lot of fun. The night serves as a reminder of our partnership and all the great things we do together though that partnership. Thank you to the PTO for providing so much support for the Social.
Thank you to the sixth grade families that attended our family night. The evening served as a good transition point where parents learned more about the MJS experience through our peer leaders and through our advisory activities. I want to thank the peer leaders for assisting and thank you to Mrs. Mack and Mr. Bovee for coordinating the event. Thank you to the PTO for providing refreshments.
Monday, Elisabeth Bostwick will be visiting MJS to provide professional development with our staff members in the area of unleashing creativity to empower learning in the classroom. Ms. Bostwick is a prominent speaker in the country when it comes toexposing students to deep learning activities in the classroom through various methods like problem-based learning. She is also passionate about teaching empathy in the classroom. She has been recognized by the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) as a Digital Innovator All-Star and lead Digital Innovator for New York. She’s also been named theNextGen Young Professional Leader in Education and had the honor of being the recipient of the 2016 Governor’s Empire State Excellence in Teaching award.
Ms. Bostwick’s messages within her book, Take the LEAP: Igniting a Culture of Innovation, speaks to our leadership paradigm within #MJSLeads and I’m both honored and excited to have her visit MJS. I want to thank the Madison Education Foundation for supporting Ms. Bostwick’s visit to MJS along with our continued mission to enhance teaching and learning practices for the benefit of our students.
