Dear MJS Families,
Today, we had an opportunity to reflect on Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy during our morning announcements in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday. Dr. King’s legacy reflects the values that we use inside and outside the classroom at MJS. Whether through life-long learning, empowerment, diversity, sense of purpose or awareness, Martin Luther King, Jr.’s impact still influences us today.
Congratulations to our students who performed in the band winter concert. I enjoy seeing the growth of our students during these middle school years and each ensemble did a fantastic job. I want to thank Mr. Sabatino and Mr. Rossi for preparing our students. Students also did a great job painting the mural this week. The mural project is really special for our school. To commemorate the mural, there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony on February 4 at 6:30 PM in the MJS auditorium. The invitation can be found here and all are invited to attend.
Student Council is hosting a shoe drive starting January 21. More information can be found here. Come sing with us! The MMA has enlisted an elite crew of Broadway buffs--students from Madison Junior School and Madison High School to share their favorite songs so we can all sing them together. We’ll be doing songs from Hamilton, Wicked, Gypsy, Dear Evan Hanson, Beautiful, The Lion King and more! Friday, January 24 in the MJS auditorium; admission is free
Next week’s students’ announcements can be found here. Parents will find information from our school nurse, Ms. Skordinsky, about flu basics here. For information regarding PTO activities, please click here. As we move forward, please keep the following dates in mind:
20 January: MLK Day (Schools Closed)
24 January: End of MP 2
31 January: MP 2 Report Card Grades and Comments Available in Genesis
I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
