September 22, 2021

Dear Fourth and Fifth Grade Parents/Guardians,

I hope this communication finds you well. On Monday, September 27, 2021, and Wednesday, September 29, 2021, the three Madison School District elementary schools will conduct the administration of the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) Start Strong testing. The Start Strong assessments will be administered this month because the NJDOE decided not to require testing last spring. The test is a mandated statewide assessment which is in addition to the NJSLA testing which will be administered in the spring of 2022. There are 2 days of testing and the testing will begin as soon as possible each morning. Each day of testing is approximately 60 minutes. Please read below for some important Start Strong testing information:

Please keep in mind that we cannot allow a student to enter a testing session once the testing begins. If a student arrives late to school on a testing day, the student will have to wait in the office until the testing session concludes. The student will make up the testing session during one of the test make-up days.

Schedule:

  • Literacy Testing (ELA) – September 27, 2021 (Grades 4-5) – Approximately 60 minutes
  • Mathematics Testing - September 29, 2021 (Grades 4-5) – Approximately 60 minutes

Make-Up Testing – Make-ups will occur during the week of October 4th.

Prior to the testing days, please make sure that your child gets a good night’s sleep and has a substantial breakfast.

If you have any particular concerns in regard to how we may support your child throughout the testing, please reach out to your child’s teacher, or our school counselor, Mrs. Bletcher.

Have a wonderful week!

Warm regards,

Ileana  Garcia, Principal
