    President's Message - May 2019


    Book Swap 2019 in the Books!

    We hope everyone had a chance to donate or collect books at the TJS Book Swap. Thank you to Melanie O’Hara and Amanda McLoughlin for giving your time to make this event a success. The remaining books will be donated to a local charity.

    International May

    Posters are on display showcasing some of the many different cultures celebrated at Torey J. Please stop by the glass display case in the school lobby to check out various traditions and information our international community has to share with us. Thank you to all families that participated, what a great way for us to teach and learn from each other! Many thanks to Patricia Kupper and Vicki Walsh for planning and organizing events for our international students and families throughout the year.  

    MayDay and the Green Team

    Many thanks to Steve Alcorn for organizing our annual MayDay activities at TJS. The grounds look great after a little TLC for our community. We are so grateful to have a community of families taking pride in our learning spaces. The spring garden curriculum is up and running. Each class is involved in planting and maintaining the garden.  Thank you to parent volunteers who have assisted the teachers with their lessons and, of course, many thanks to Maureen Philipps, Holly Kest, and Sarah Dunn for keeping the garden in bloom. We appreciate your time immensely!

    Did somebody say “JAMBOREE?”

    It’s hard to believe it’s that time of year, but here we are  counting down the days! Your help in any way possible is greatly appreciated. Please,  please, please consider reaching out to Chris Driscoll chrisdriscoll31@gmail.com and Marisa Chandler jamboreeraffle@gmail.com to assist with raffle prizes or day-off activities. More details will continue to be shared over the coming weeks, including a Sign-up Genius for volunteer needs. Many thanks to Chris and Marisa for taking on this exciting TJS event!

    PTO 2019-2020

    We are thrilled to share that  Amanda McLoughlin and Sarah Smith will be the  PTO Co-Presidents for the 2019-2020 school year. We are very proud of the support we are able to provide to our teachers and students. It takes many, many hands to accomplish our yearly goals. A more comprehensive description of our particular needs will be shared in the coming weeks, but please consider how you can offer your expertise to our community. Whether it’s helping us file taxes, plan fundraisers, manage our website, or take on room parent responsibilities,  your help is greatly valued and needed. Please think about what kind of impact you can make on our community!
