The school district will soon be announcing news regarding
the appointment of a new Superintendent of Schools, which culminates a
comprehensive, national search by the leading educational search firm.We anticipate being a position to share
further information no later than early June.
In the meanwhile, I will be concluding my work as Interim
Superintendent of Schools this week, and as of Monday, May 12, Dr. Tom Ficarra,
former Superintendent of the Morristown Schools, will be serving as the Interim
Superintendent for a few months until the new permanent superintendent
begins.Dr. Ficarra is one of the most
widely respected school district leaders in the region.
This is the time of year when school districts make contract
recommendations and accept resignations and retirements. The district recognizes that hiring and
personnel decisions are arguably our most important organizational
responsibilities.We don’t shy away from
those responsibilities, but approach them thoughtfully and with a deep, abiding
commitment to the well-being of our students and our schools. If, as a result of those decisions, we have
vacancies in important posts, we immediately take steps to fill those vacancies
with promising, well-qualified appointees.Madison is blessed to have many talented and dedicated staff members,
which enables us, if needed, to easily appoint strong individuals to serve on
an acting basis while a longer search for permanent appointments proceeds.
The administration intends to move forward, without delay,
in appointing highly-qualified individuals who will do excellent work on behalf
of our students and schools.Madison has
always been a magnet for talented candidates, and we continue to draw
exceptional applicant pools.We’re a
wonderful school community, long-recognized for our dedicated staff, talented
students, and supportive parents.I’m
excited about what’s in store for our schools, proud of what this district has
accomplished, and deeply appreciative of the opportunity to have served here.
