Genesis Attendance Letter Notifications

August 22, 2017

Dear Madison High School Parents/Guardians,

Our student information system, Genesis, provides us many new features that improve our ability to communicate with you more efficiently. One feature that Madison High School implements is the ability to post attendance letters to the parent portal in lieu of traditional mailings. Only in the event of a student’s attendance record reaching a critical juncture where there is the potential for attendance probation and/or loss of credit will a letter be sent home via US Mail in addition to being posted on the portal. It is important to note that not all families receive attendance letters. In accordance with the Madison High School attendance policy, parents and guardians are notified with an attendance letter only if a student accumulates a certain number of absences as they relate to a semester and/or full year course.

In addition to viewing the letters online, Genesis also offers parents and guardians the option to set up an email notification feature. This will alert parents and guardians via email that a new letter has been posted to their parent portal. If you wish to receive email notifications, it will require you to set up and activate this feature under the ‘Message Center’ tab on the portal. Attached to this letter, you will find detailed instructions to help you turn on email notifications.

The parent portal is a primary resource for information regarding your child’s academic and attendance standing. We ask that parents and guardians periodically check the parent portal for the most up to date information as it pertains to their child.

If you a have any questions regarding the parent portal or the notifications posted to Genesis please feel free to contact me at (973) 593-3117, ext. 3121.

Best regards,
