EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

INSTRUMENTAL AND VOCAL MUSIC

  • Jazz Band - The Madison High School and Madison Junior School jazz bands are comprised of a select group of musicians. Audition required for acceptance. Rehearsals are before school (MJS) or after school (MJS) and certain evenings throughout the school year. The jazz bands perform at school concerts, “Dessert & Jazz” and at community events.

  • Jazz Chorus- The MHS Jazz Chorus, also known as “Mad Jazz”  performs at school concerts, sporting events and for community groups, with a repertoire ranging from jazz standards to soulful ballads to a version of the Star-Spangled Banner sprinkled with jazz harmonies. Acceptance to the group is by audition only. Rehearses one evening per week at MHS.

  • Marching Band - This award-winning ensemble performs at all football games as well as numerous community events and local, state, and regional marching band competitions. Open to all MHS and MJS band students. Rehearses evenings and weekends. The season runs from mid August to late November.

THEATRE

  • MHS Fall Drama - The cast and crew of the fall drama rehearse from September through mid-November. Open to all MHS students. 

  • MHS Spring Musical - The largest student activity in the school, the musical employs student actors, dancers, musicians, set painters, set builders, a running crew, a light crew, costume, and make-up coordinators, and stage managers. The activity runs from December through mid-March.

  • MJS Fall Drama- The cast and crew of the fall drama rehearse from late September through early December. Open to all MJS students. 

  • MJS Spring Musical- The musical rehearses from January through March. Open to any MJS student interested in being on stage or working backstage.

  • Elementary Spring Musicals- Each of the three elementary schools puts on a 30-60 minute musical production in April/May. The show is for 5th grade students only (CAS) or 4th and 5th grade students (KRS and TJS). Rehearsals are held after school.
