The ability to enjoy music and to participate in an individual or group level is an integral part of daily life. The courses in the music department are designed to appeal to varied interests and levels. There is something for everyone, from the casual listener to the future music major. Evening performances are required for all performing ensembles.

Extracurricular activities are offered in the areas of instrumental music, jazz, and vocal music. Students enrolled in the various music courses have opportunities to audition for related region and state programs.
