CENTRAL AVENUE SCHOOL ACTIVITIES, CLUBS AND SPORTS

Clubs and activities typically meet during school at lunch. Some meetings may be scheduled during after school or before school. All times are announced during morning announcements and then posted in our weekly newsletter.
Listed below is the list of extracurricular activities available at CAS with the advisor's name.

Inclusivity Club: This club is led by Grade 4 and 5 students, but is open to all students to participate in during recess and lunches. This club's mission is to make sure each student feels valued and can have a friend. "Don't be shy just say hi." Advisor: Mrs. Masina Dua

Look for the Good Ambassadors/Peer Leaders:  Part of the Look for the Good Campaign.  These students lead assemblies, role-model for students, and recognize students around the school.  Advisors: Ms. Mirabella

Multicultural Club: This club consists of students in grades 3-5. They typically meet during lunch periods and support many of our DEI initiatives, such as Bi-lingual books, Multicultural Announcements, and International Day. Advisor: Senora Arosemena

Green Team: This club consists of 4th and 5th Grade students who brainstorm and looks for ways to keep CAS Green! They run our composting program as well as promote other sustainable initiatives. Advisor: Mrs. LaRocca and Mrs. Sankus

Safety Patrol: Part of AAA Program. Students in 4th and 5th grade get trained on traffic safety as well as other safety tips. Students are required to take part in each training session and they must be at their post daily (AM & PM). This is a full-year club, which typically begins in October. Advisors: Ms. Mirabella and Mr. Liss

Musical: Gives students a chance to participate on stage as actors, singers or dancers, or behind the scenes as part of the running stage crew, lighting crew or props and costumes crew. Winter production tryouts are held early in the school year. Musical rehearsals will be scheduled immediately after school. Students will be required to attend the full cast rehearsal once a week. This is for 5th grade students only. Advisors: Mrs. Chiarino and Miss Jackson

Student Council: Engages in community service activities, organizes social functions and acts as a voice for the students of CAS. Council elections for representatives take place in the fall. In October, elections are held for class representatives in grades 4 and 5. Advisors: Miss Jackson and Mr. Paradiso.

School-Wide Enrichment Classes: In the Fall and Winter CAS offers a wide array of classes for grades K-5. The brochure with a list of classes will come out in the middle of September and the Middle of January. These classes have a cost and take place after school, once a week, from 3:15-4:15. Some classes offered in the past include Legos, Jogging, Soccer, Art, Dance, and Crafts.
