Achievements & Accolades
Records have been falling this winter season. Congratulations to the following student athletes:
Senior Gavin Randall set the boys basketball all-time scoring record in a win over Mendham. His 1511 career point eclipsed the previous record that set the standard for the past 42 years.
Junior Lucas Gero collected his 69th and 70th points of the season in a playoff game breaking a school record of points in a season set back in the 2009-2010 season.
Freshman swimmer Will Dyer set the 200 yard freestyle record in the section semifinal with a time of 1:49.46
In track, junior Nicole Driscoll was the North II Group II section champion and set a school school record in the indoor pole vault with a successful attempt of 9’6”. This record previously stood for 18 years. Junior Bella Bolstad was the 800 meter champion and senior Rohan Tucker took home the 55 and 400 meter titles.
SAT/ACT Free Diagnostic Test
First Choice Prep is partnering with the Madison Public Library on March 14th to offer a free diagnostic comparison test offering students the ability to see how they’d perform on the SAT or ACT. Space is limited. Those interested can register by clicking this link.
Class of 2026 Lawn Signs
As a reminder, the deadline for families to purchase a graduation lawn sign for their senior is March 13th. Those families interested in purchasing a one for their senior should complete the linked form and follow the instructions within.
Health Screenings
Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:16-2.2 and Policy and Regulation 5310, our school nurse will be conducting health screenings that include height, weight, blood pressure, hearing, vision, and scoliosis over the coming weeks. If you prefer your child not participate, please contact Nurse Fastiggi directly (fastiggid@madisonnjps.org or ext. 3146).
New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA)
This linked letter outlines information regarding the New Jersey Graduation Performance Assessment (NJGPA), which will be administered to all 11th grade students the week of March 16th. Please read it carefully, as it contains information regarding a student’s ability to graduate from high school.
Spring Sports “Meet the Coaches”
Mr. Scheifler and the Athletic Department welcome all parents of a spring athlete (B&G Lacrosse, B&G Track, B&G Golf, Baseball, Softball, and Boys Tennis) to meet their child's coaches on Tuesday, March 3rd at 6:30 pm. The event will begin in the MHS Media Center before breaking out into smaller groups by team.
Spring Sports Registration
Registration for the 2025 Spring Athletic season will open on January 20th. Any student interested in playing a spring sport must register, including those that played in the fall and/or winter. The deadline to register and ensure that students are cleared by our school physician is Friday, February 27th. 11th Grade In-School SAT
An optional, in-school SAT will be offered to 11th grade students on Wednesday, April 15th. Juniors who are interested in sitting for the test, must register by March 27th. In addition, Educational Services Center will offer an SAT Prep class with practice exams at a reduced rate to MHS students in the lead up to the in-school SAT. Please click this link for more information on how to register. Please reach out to your child’s counselor for other prep courses and options, not offered at the high school.
26-27 Scheduling Resources & Timelines
Planning for the 26-27 school year is underway. The Madison High School Guidance Department is looking forward to meeting with students in the coming weeks and building a schedule that best fits their needs. In an effort to help students plan for their upcoming scheduling meetings, we would like to make available a number of important resources and deadlines posted within the 26-27 Scheduling Letter on the MHS homepage. Two deadlines to be mindful of:
Course recommendation appeals deadline - Monday, April 20th / (Friday, May 1st for current 8th graders)
Virtual, Summer, & Outside Course Request deadline - Thursday, June 18th
Service Hours & National Honors Society Reminders
Click this link to review the timeline regarding this year’s application process and the requirements for admission into the Madison High School Chapter of the National Honor Society. Students should log their service hours by clicking the link on the MHS Service Learning Website. Please remember that all students receive seven hours of community service for participating in the annual Day of Service. These hours are automatically included within a student’s total and do not need to be submitted.
Madison Community Pool
The Madison Community Pool encourages all families to head to their website to stay up to date and for information regarding membership. In the coming weeks, representatives from the pool board will be at the high school and available to students interested in a summer job or volunteer opportunities.
