As this Teacher Appreciation Week comes to a close, it is with great excitement and honor to announce Madison High School’s 2026 Teacher and Educational Service Professional of the Year. We are pleased to share that Mr. Russ Batsch, Music Teacher, has been selected as the MHS Teacher of the Year and Mr. Richard Hagens, Teacher Assistant, has been selected as our MHS Educational Service Professional of the Year. On behalf of the Madison High School community, I want to extend my gratitude to both Mr. Batsch and Mr. Hagens for their dedication and commitment to the students and families of MHS. We are grateful for everything they do each and every day! Thank you to all that took the time to submit nominations.

NJSLA Math Testing Schedule & Information - Monday, May 18th
All 9th grade students and any 10th or 11th grader enrolled in Algebra I are scheduled to take the Math New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (Math NJSLA) on Monday, May 18th. Please click this link for a letter regarding NJSLA testing. Listed below are several important reminders:
Students testing should arrive by 7:30 am with a fully charged chromebook, their chromebook charger, and calculator (optional).
Students not testing will operate on a delayed opening schedule and begin classes at 9:45 am
10th & 11th Grade students are required to report at 8:30 am for Student Government Campaign Speeches in the Auditorium.
9th Grade Speeches will take place during the support block on Friday, May 15th
Prom Bids will be sold to 12th grade students planning to attend the senior prom between 9:00 am and 9:30 am in the main lobby.
Bus pick up and drop of times will remain on their normal operating schedule. Students that require the bus, but are not testing can report to the main gymnasium until testing is complete.
Day of Service & Senior Meeting - Thursday, May 21st
9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will participate in the Day of Service on Thursday, May 21st. 12th graders will have their end of year senior meeting with Mr. Drechsel in the auditorium. For those unfamiliar with the day, on the Day of Service all students and staff take a break from classes to participate in a service project. Students have been assigned projects based upon their preferences and will be meeting with project leaders on Tuesday, May 12th during the support period to get more information.
Class of 2026 End of Year Events Schedule

Achievements & Recognitions
Congratulations to our Boys Golf Team who claimed the South Jersey, Group I Section Championship on May 5th at Cream Ridge Golf Club. Blake Steele was the individual champion, shooting a 3-over 75 while Teo Bengtsson (77), Andrew Schiller (77), Owen Nowak (80), and Theo Bruns (80) rounded out the scoring.
The MHS Spring Track & Field teams are making history. At the Morris County Relays records were set in the three man long jump relay (Kyle Desrivieres, AJ Eldridge, and Nathan Belad - 59’-0”) and three woman pole vault relay (Sadie Chase, Ella Jones, and Nicole Driscoll - 26’-0”). At the NJAC meet, junior Nicole Driscoll set the women’s pole vault school record with a jump of 10’-0”, junior Isabella Bolstad set the women’s 800 meter school record with a time of 2:17.20, and senior Rohan Tucker set the men’s 400 meter school record with a time of 48 seconds.
