JAWAD ISSAK, SCHOOL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR & BOARD SECRETARY

Jawad Issak was appointed as the School Business Administrator and Board Secretary for the Madison Public Schools in January 2025.

As School Business Administrator, Mr. Issak provides leadership in fiscal management and operational oversight to advance the district’s goals. His responsibilities include developing and maintaining long-range financial plans, preparing the annual budget, and ensuring compliance across all business functions—accounting, purchasing, accounts payable, payroll, employee benefits and pensions, insurance, and key operational areas such as transportation, food services, and buildings and grounds. He also supervises department personnel, promotes staff development, and ensures the efficient and responsible use of district resources.

As Board Secretary, Mr. Issak is responsible for recording Board meetings, maintaining official records, managing and reporting financial transactions, and ensuring adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements. This dual-role position reports to both the Superintendent and the Board of Education.

Prior to this appointment, Mr. Issak served as the District Accountant for Madison Public Schools beginning in November 2022. In that role, he focused on financial reporting, supported the preparation of the annual budget, ensured compliance with state and federal fiscal requirements, and assisted in all aspects of the district’s business operations.

During his tenure as District Accountant, Mr. Issak exemplified the mission of the Madison Public Schools to be a lifelong learner. He completed the 150-credit requirement, studied for and passed all four Certified Public Accountant examinations, and earned his CPA license in November 2024. He subsequently obtained his Certificate of Eligibility as a School Business Administrator and is nearing completion of permanent certification through the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials certification program.

Mr. Issak began his career in public education in 2013 at the Passaic Board of Education, where he served in various part-time roles within Special Services, Student Transportation, Technology and Data Coordination, and later in the Business Office supporting accounts payable, purchasing, payroll, and accounting functions. In 2017, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from William Paterson University and accepted a full-time position in Accounts Payable with the Passaic Board of Education. He was promoted to School Accountant in 2019, a position he held until 2022 when he joined Madison.

Mr. Issak was born and raised in Wayne Township and attended Wayne Valley High School, where he met his best friend and now wife, Renae. They now reside in Wayne with their young daughter. The family enjoys snowboarding, biking, hiking and maintaining an active lifestyle.
