JoAnne Zahn, Assistant Principal, Madison Junior School
Ms. Zahn joined the Madison Junior School team starting July 1st of this year, and is excited to share her knowledge of instruction and student supports with the Madison School Community. Ms. Zahn believes that all students are capable of success, but the path in getting there is different for every child.
Ms. Zahn has been a career-long middle school educator and has served in several capacities. Prior to Madison, Ms. Zahn served as the Assistant Principal and Curriculum Supervisor for the PK -8 South Hackensack Public School District. In this role, she was responsible for all curriculum and learning-related activities including curriculum writing and implementation, and professional development. During her time there, she was able to bring several initiatives to build student supports and worked closely with community partners. Before South Hackensack, Ms. Zahn worked for Norwood Public School as their Curriculum Supervisor and representative to the Northern Valley Curriculum Consortium.
Ms. Zahn began her educational career with the Teaneck Public Schools where she taught 8th grade Social Studies for 18 years. While there, she also served as an advisor and coach for National Junior Honor Society, Mock Trial Team, and the Golf Team. During this time, Ms. Zahn also worked for Peking University writing English-language materials for their ELL program.
Ms. Zahn has a Master’s degree in School Administration from Rowan University and an undergraduate degree in History / Secondary Education from The College of New Jersey.
In her free time, Ms. Zahn loves to travel, garden, and spend time with her family and friends.
