Dear Madison Families,

I am writing today to extend my gratitude to all Madison Public Schools stakeholders and to provide information that parents should know about an important leadership transition in our schools.

As you may already know, I have made the difficult decision to tender my resignation as Superintendent of Madison Public Schools to accept an invitation to lead another school district. This opportunity represents an important next step in my career journey, but leaving Madison weighs heavily on my heart.

Madison has been my home away from home for the last six years. Over this time, we have worked together to form a vision for our schools where all students achieve at high levels and feel empowered as individuals. Through Superintendent Coffee sessions, Board meetings, PTO meetings, Back to School nights, concerts, athletic events, community events, focus groups, and many other meetings, we have become colleagues, partners, and friends in our common efforts. I will always be grateful for this incredible time and hope to remain connected with you far beyond July 2023.

In the coming months, you can expect that all of our normal processes will continue as we provide an exciting close to the 2022-23 school year and plan for rich learning experiences in 2023-24. Additionally, I will support the Board as we ensure a smooth transition in the Superintendent's Office. The Board will also provide ongoing information regarding their efforts to recruit Madison Public Schools' next educational leader.

Thank you for allowing me to serve your community. I look forward to seeing you soon at one of our many spring events.

Sincerely,

Mark Schwarz
