Happy New Year!

Dodger families,

Happy New Year's Eve. I hope this message finds you healthy and refreshed from the Winter Break. As we prepare to return to school, please take into consideration the following important updates.

Schools will reopen with normal operations on Monday, January 3.

As schools reopen, we will continue to use contact tracing to monitor the effectiveness of our COVID mitigation strategies. MPS programs and activities may be modified if determined necessary by the school administration in consultation with the Madison Health Department. In the meantime, schools will operate on their normal, fully-day, in-person schedules to best support the wellbeing and academic progress of our students.

MPS Rules for Return will remain unchanged until the NJDOH reviews CDC guidance.

On December 27, 2021 the CDC issued a press release titled Recommended Isolation and Quarantine Period for General Population shortening the recommended time for isolation and quarantine for the general public. On December 31, 2021 the NJ Department of Health provided updated guidance in order to clarify the implications of this announcement. The district has been advised to continue with our current isolation and quarantine protocols until we receive specific guidance on how the CDC’s recommendations for shortened quarantine and isolation procedures should be applied to school settings. Any questions or concerns regarding these procedures may be directed to Assistant Superintendent Frank Santora at santoraf@madisonnjps.org.

Families should exercise patience as district personnel deal with challenges associated with periods of high COVID transmission.

As COVID case rates surpass prior records, our staff will be taking on an inordinate amount of additional responsibilities to maintain our normal programs and activities. When communicating with school personnel, please follow the Communication Protocols in place for each school. Also, please be concise and polite to facilitate our development of an efficient and helpful response. For matters pertaining to district level concerns, please contact Executive Secretary Patti Cleary at clearyp@madisonnjps.org

Best wishes to all of you for a Happy New Year. We look forward to welcoming your children back soon.
